Kirsten joined Prospect in June 2023, right after completing a PhD in Computer Science at Newcastle University. Throughout her doctorate, Kirsten has gained various skills and knowledge across deep learning, computer vision and deep reinforcement learning, working on a marine conservation project focussed on autonomous driving and active object tracking. She joined us as a Senior Data Scientist and is looking to bring her expertise in deep learning to our arsenal of approaches to modelling and data collection.
Initially, Kirsten fulfilled a degree in Applied Psychology at Durham University (including sports psychology). She then progressed to a Masters in Cognitive Neuroscience, before retraining and completing a second master’s degree in Computer Science and a PGDip in Data Science.
Outside of academia, Kirsten enjoys indoor bouldering, running and surfing. She also enjoys playing and watching football – in fact, she played in the Durham County Women’s League before joining us. Originally from Middlesbrough, Kirsten supports MFC, but is not averse to enjoying the success of Newcastle United, where she is based. Excited about the growing popularity of women’s football, she made sure to attend the first ever Newcastle United Women’s game held at St. James Park in May 2022.
